Cat Pulling Its Tail

This is the full expression of the pose: however, a strap can be used to help in grabbing either leg, and/or a block or bolster can be put under either leg to make the pose more supported and comfortable.

Cat Pulling Its Tail (Gaze)

Be sure to cue to look over the opposite shoulder as this brings in the neck stretch. Shoulders should be firm against the floor.

Cat Pulling It's Tail (modified)

Keeping the knee bent, as opposed to out stretched works well as a modification to make the pose easier.

Foot Grab

It is important to grab the foot in the this pose: this is the "tail" of Cat pulling its tail (you are the cat!). If you or your student can't reach your foot (this is difficult) use a strap and hook it around the foot, or simply kick the foot back (without grabbing it) to get the stretch).
